The Harmonic Current Standard
EN61000-3-2:2006+A2:2009 is the present standard for limits for harmonic current emissions for equipment with an input current less than, or equal to 16A per phase but will be withdrawn and replaced by EN61000-3-2:2014 on 30th June, 2017.
EN61000-3-2 has been used to show conformance to the EMC Directive for many years and the particular version used is referenced in the CE Declaration of Conformity (DoC) for all external power supplies. From 1st July, 2017, this reference will need to be updated to show that the 2014 version is being used.
Good news! No change to the procedure
The good news for power supply manufacturers and distributors is that the new version does not change the measurement procedure, the application of the limits or the tables defining the limits for class A (and hence B), C and D equipment nor the table for the test observation period meaning that retesting of existing product will not be required to demonstrate conformance.
The main differences to the new version are the classification of refrigerators and freezers as class D equipment and the amendment or inclusion of test conditions for vacuum cleaners, arc welding equipment, high-pressure cleaners and refrigerators.
Although no retesting of power supplies needs to take place, each Declaration of Conformity will require to be amended as these can only reference current standards as listed in the Official Journal and not out-of-date versions. From 1st July, the 2014 version will be the only current standard listed.
